Jewelry Maintenance is very important, and it is something most of us do not think about very often.We all have such busy lives, this is probably last on our list.

The other day a customer who had bought their wedding bands from us 13 years ago came to the store. The wedding band was fine, but the diamond from her engagement  ring fell out. She was at home when this happened. After panicking for awhile, she began to look around, and found it! Turns out the prongs on her ring were all worn off, & all she did was hit it slightly & the diamond popped out. It doesn’t take much to lose a diamond if there are no prongs holding it in.

She was very lucky & happy she found the diamond. Sometimes this is not the case & can cause for a very stressful and upsetting situation that could have been avoided. What needs to be done with her ring is to build up the gold on the prongs (retipping), so they will be as good as the day she bought it.

Also, the band part of the ring is very thin & we need to put on a half shank
